HOW TO BECOME A MEMBER

United States Power Squadron Membership Application and Fees

What are the requirements?

Since USPS is a volunteer organization, it is essential that our members be willing and able to contribute their time, energy, and skills to the objectives of the organization.

One of the core beliefs of USPS membership is that an educated boater is a safe boater. It should then come as no surprise that there is an educational requirement. Typically, this has been satisfied by completion of one of our public boating courses. However, recognizing that education can be obtained from various sources, a number of additional courses have been recognized as meeting this educational requirement.

Finally, you must be at least 18 years of age.
Apprentice memberships (non voting) are also available for those under18.

USPS Educational Requirements may be satisfied by:

Successful completion of any the following courses:

  • USPS Public Boating Course
  • USCG Auxilliary Boating Course
  • ABC Boating Course

See the Public Boating Course portion of our website for more information and contact information.

MEMBERSHIP INVOLVEMENT COMMITTEE

The Membership Involvement Committee is a group of enthusiastic squadron members. It is open to the entire squadron. We encourage new, active, and inactive members to participate in social and educational activities. Each year we assist with the Change of Watch, Memorial Day, and Labor Day events. In addition we plan and conduct a Commander's Thank You event for all squadron members , host the Holiday Party including putting on a Silent Auction that raises a substantial amount for the general fund.We also encourage young adults and youth to become involved with all appropriate squadron activities. For example, we conduct a Youth Poster Contest. We assist with the yearly contact of non-renewals. Our overall goal is membership retention through meaningful and fun endeavors.
